Switch gear sensor systems provide failure alert through constant monitoring of electrical distribution systems. Continuous temperature and current monitoring indicates overheating at its early stages, so the risk of sparking and burning contacts in a random peak load situation is largely decreased.
The Micropelt » qmNODE generates its power through » energy harvesting from the resistive heat of the monitored busbar and communicates its measurement data with gateways to monitoring systems. Our solid state thin film » thermogenerator devices convert a temperature difference into electrical energy. Those self-sustained energy sources harvest thermal energy that’s otherwise lost to the environment. A temperature gradient of 2 degrees over the thermogenerator can activate a DC/DC booster and power your electronics. More output power can be delivered at higher gradients, for instance 1 mW at 10 degrees and 4 mW at 20 degrees. 1 mW represents a battery-equivalent of more than 12 coin cell batteries a year.
